Nicaragua, Day 2 – She Said Yes!

20121109-210039.jpg

Today we took a taxi to the bus station, rode a bus for 2 1/2 hours to Rivas, another taxi to the beach, and a ferry to Ometepe – an active volcanic island in the middle of Lake Nicaragua. We found a cheap hostel, rented a motorcycle, rode to a good beach, rented a kayak . . .

And I proposed to Britney.

That’s right, I popped the question. I love her, adore her, and respect her, and am so excited to see what we become together over the decades to come.

Oh, she said yes, by the way. The 12-kilometer ride back to town, in the dark, was painful for us both – we couldn’t keep the smiles off our faces.

🙂

    1. I’m sure we’ll go back every once in awhile just to reminisce for sure! It was perfect, really . . . which made it so I didn’t have to do an AMAZING speech or HUGE surprise! 😉

  1. Good thing you didn’t accidentally leave the ring back at the hostel…and not realize it til 4 hours of travel!! Love ya!

    1. Haha, for sure! Then I would have had to create a romantic moment again the next day and it might be obvious the 2nd time, lol. It actually wasn’t 4 hours TO the lake from our hostel – it was about a 20 or 30 minute motorcycle ride.

  2. Tearing up here, too. Now wouldn’t I like to get that proposal on a beach in Nicaragua! Even better than a billboard towed behind a plane. Supposedly he’s got something planned before the end of the year, so we’ll see what happens. Congratulations to you both and wishing you a lifetime of happiness.

    1. Thanks! Ya, I decided to go for the “Such an amazing place it doesn’t matter what you do or say” approach . . . lol.

Best of luck to YOU! I hope to read about it when it happens!
